About Shelby

Shelby Bertrand is a dedicated political activist and former public servant running to be a strong voice at Queen’s Park for Ottawa Centre.

Shelby fell in love with the city of Ottawa after moving there seven years ago. Through her volunteer work and community engagement, Shelby has made it her mission to help build a better Ottawa. Shelby is excited to bring her passion for improving the lives of others to the Green Party of Ontario and alongside the strong leadership of Mike Schreiner.

Shelby’s personal experience with Crohn’s disease, her past work with residential school survivors in the public service, and her passion for the environment and animal rights inspired her to run for the provincial election. She wants members of her community to have affordable housing, reliable and accessible mental health services, and for Indigenous community members to enjoy an equal quality of life.

Shelby is pursuing a Master’s degree in Philosophy at the University of Ottawa. She is a voracious reader who shares her small apartment with chaotic rescue budgies and many books.
