About Patrick

Patrick Macklem will be a truly grassroots representative of Parkdale—High Park, working across all levels of government and party lines to build the Ontario we want.

Formerly a law professor at the University of Toronto, Patrick has written and educated others on human rights, Indigenous rights, ethnic and cultural minorities’ rights, labour law, constitutional law, and international law. His degrees from Harvard, Toronto, and McGill University taught him to form balanced, fact-based, compassionate, and well-reasoned positions on policy.

During his campaign, Patrick will highlight the inability of Ontario’s dominant parties to effectively represent Ontarians in our shared post-pandemic future. We’ve all changed — in many cases, profoundly — but Ontario’s government and political parties haven’t. Their old-style retail politics remain disconnected from Ontarians’ post-pandemic anxieties and concerns. The Green Party offers a new vision for Ontario, providing effective representation and supportive reforms tied to our shared future.

As MPP, Patrick will be dedicated to improving the lives of Parkdale—High Park residents. He will implement Green policies in ways that strengthen the riding’s neighbourhoods. He will work towards including enhanced support for our hospitals and mental health outreach programs; improved housing options for home buyers, renters, and those experiencing homelessness; meaningful employment opportunities for youth, the underemployed, and the unemployed; and aggressive support for local businesses.
