About Katarina

Katarina Dunham is running in this election to restore Oshawa to a prosperous, vibrant, and safe place to call home.

This restoration begins by tackling Oshawa’s homelessness crisis and its roots in complex mental health and addiction issues that have gone unaddressed for far too long. Katarina will work with all levels of government to immediately protect and support Oshawa’s most vulnerable citizens through accessible and comprehensive mental health care.

Oshawa is the 5th most expensive city in Canada to rent an apartment. If elected, Katarina will tighten rent increase and “renovictions” rules and combat condo-sales corruption. She will collaborate with Durham region to accelerate affordable, energy-efficient, and accessible housing construction for lower-income residents.

Katarina also plans to help shift the city towards a new era: a modern, green economy. She will make electric vehicles (EVs) easier to buy and charge, supporting GM’s transition to EV production and restoring Oshawa’s title as “The City in Motion.”

Katarina is a small business owner with a dynamic professional background. No stranger to politics, she has served as a federal civil servant with the Department of Heritage and worked in the Ministers’ offices of Francophone Affairs and Long-Term Care. She spent much of her youth in Oshawa at her Oma’s house, a place she treasures more than any other in the world.
