About Fatima

Fatima Faruq is passionate about standing for the needs of the Scarborough Centre community.

Fatima is a 2022 University of Toronto graduate with a specialist in neuroscience. She has various research affiliations, including the Hospital for Sick Children and the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine. With her passion for health research and advocacy, Fatima targets barriers that stop Ontarians from receiving culturally appropriate and needs-based care. If elected, she will bridge the gap between research and knowledge translation to develop equitable and sustainable policies that meet the needs of her residents for employment, transportation, safety, and housing.

Fatima held various leadership roles at her university and received the University of Toronto Student Leadership Award. In 2020, she co-founded UTM Acts of Kindness Club with a mandate to advocate for the needs of the homeless and other vulnerable communities. For three years, she has been a Jack.org public speaker for youth mental health.

Fatima believes in the power of youth leadership and teamwork. She wants to collectively amplify the voices of Scarborough Centre at Queen’s Park.
