About Catherine

Catherine Kiewning will bring her energy and passion for giving back to her community to Queen’s Park as a strong voice for Kenora—Rainy River.

Born and raised in Red Lake, Catherine attended university in Montreal before obtaining her dream job: working with youth in public health in Dryden. Catherine also holds a Master’s degree in social justice education from Lakehead University.

With a reputation for always having things on the go, Catherine dedicates endless volunteer hours to important causes and initiatives, like the Second Chance Pet Network, the Citizens’ Climate Lobby, and the local Christmas Cheer initiative. Presently, she is a Director/Co-Founder on the Rainbow Alliance Dryden/Pride Committee, Chair of Hoshizaki House’s Board of Directors, and Director/Co-Founder of the Dryden Area Young Professionals Network. Catherine also ran as a candidate in Dryden’s 2018 municipal election.

Catherine spends her free time hiking the Mavis Lake Trails, venturing out to Tunnel Island, and exploring the 8th Street walking and ski trails. Her profound love of nature drives her to protect and preserve Ontario’s flora and fauna, which is why she decided to run for the Greens.

Catherine is committed to ensuring the residents of Kenora—Rainy River have a safe, livable and viable home for years to come. She’s ready to provide the leadership we need to build the Ontario we want.
