Tim Grant is the chair and long-time board member of the Harbord Village Residents’ Association, a downtown Toronto neighbourhood. Over the years, he led numerous tree-planting activities, including a detailed inventory of the neighbourhood’s 4000 trees. He co-chaired the Downtown West Solar Energy Project that enabled 65 Trinity-Spadina households to add solar panels to their rooftops in 2007-2008. He also co-chaired the Tower Power Toronto, an organization that helped those in over 250 condo and co-op residential buildings green their operations.

A former high school teacher, Tim Grant has been the co-editor of Green Teacher magazine for the past 20 years. During this time, he has co-edited six books, four e-books and given hundreds of presentations around the world on how best to educate young people about the environment.

With Tim as our Transportation Critic, the GPO has adopted policies such as the following: 1% of the province’s transportation budget must be dedicated to fund cycling infrastructure and another 1% to fund pedestrian infrastructure. This would create two funds to which municipalities could apply to obtain the funding they need for such projects.  The Green Party of Ontario also now proposes that provincial funding for rapid transit projects only be given to municipalities that develop and implement plans that will ensure that those projects can pay for themselves within a few years.  To do this, requires that sufficient density is built around each major transit stop.
